The largest crowd to attend a Sooner Football game was 85,646 set on Nov. 22, 2008 against then No. 2 Texas Tech.
The field that the Sooners play on is named after Bennie Owen.
In 1921, students of OU decided to start a movement for construction of a Student Union. By 1925, the idea grew into a combination of the Student Union and a Football Stadium.
The Student Union would eventually be built seperately from the stadium.
The first ever game at Owen Field was played on Oct. 20, 1923 against Washington, MO. However, the name Owen field did not come about until after Bennie Owen became a charter member of the College Football Hall of Fame.
